With over 16 years of corporate experience in sales and strategy, I’ve always been driven by professional excellence and clear communication. But my true calling in the mortgage industry wasn’t born in a boardroom—it came from my own kitchen table as a newcomer to Canada.
A Frustrating First Experience
When my family and I arrived in 2017, we were overwhelmed by new systems and processes. As we began our journey to buy our first home, we put our trust in the big banks we were banking with. We were looking for a guide. Instead, we were met with a lack of transparency—given pre-approvals without seeing the rates, and later quoted a rate that was nearly a full percentage point higher than it should have been. We felt betrayed. We faced last-minute surprises on closing costs that no one took the time to explain, a stressful experience confirmed when even our lawyer was surprised by the lack of guidance we’d received.
A Quest for Knowledge
That experience lit a fire in me. I was determined to understand the system that had failed us. I dove into learning, eventually taking the mortgage agent course not just for a license, but for the knowledge itself. I spent the next year doing my own analysis, learning about prepayment penalties, rate structures, and the complex details in the commitment letters that no agent or bank had ever taken the time to explain.

My journey, both as a client and as a student of the industry, revealed a hard truth: the system is often transactional, not relational. The focus is too often on just closing a deal, not on educating and protecting the client. I knew this had to change. My decision was clear: I had to become the agent I wish I’d had.
